its my second day on-call and its already going crazy! ..
how it works in the speciality i'm currently in, you get to be on call for the whole week.. Yesterday was the first day and i got a life threating case called "Bullous Pemphigoid" where the immune system for an unknow reason starts to attack the skin causing fluid filled and sometimes haemorrhagic blisters.. I stayed with the patient for around 3 hours till I admitted him to the hospital, then i got a call from pediatrics consulting me about a 'previously healthy' 10 year old female that developed antiphospholipid syndrome along with systemic lupus erythematous (SLE).. she started having abnormal skin lesions (purpura, ecchymosis and skin necrosis) and in a very bad shape, I went to see her three times but she wasn't there; the first time she was in radiology doing CT scan, the second time she was doing abdominal ultrasound, and the third time when she was having MRI. I left the hospital almost dead with a very bad throbbing headache..
The second day started at 5 AM when i was paged by mistake!! then, I got a consultation of a patient with Still's disease, I read about it before but i've never seen a case in my life! ..managed the patient and got consulted for another patient with generalized skin eruption -- made me suspect seconday syphilis, wrote down the blood tests required to prove that, put the patient on some medications.. went to follow up my other patients.. and got home half dead!

.. Berlin’s wall represented people's lack of control over thier lives .. when they decided to live in a world of fair opportunities, they broke through its solid briks .. a consultant that i worked with gave me a stone from Berlin wall! during that period, he tried to convince me that each person decides the fate of his/her own life.. which is true, however, in our society, culture & religion, you have to consider other people when deciding .. i always involve my mother when taking major decisions.. which sometimes means that i don't get to do what i want, but then i realize that mom has a point.
I woke up early today, decided to go to the gym.. put on my tracksuit & checked that my ipod is charged.. reached there at 8:30 a.m, and started warming up.. a lady got on the tredmill that’s next to mine, she was strangely covering her tredmill's screen with her towel, and tried to jog for 1 minute but cudn't!! so she started walking.. anyways,, what I usually do is I start by warming up for 5 minutes then jog for another 20-30 minutes then walk again for 20 minutes ..what happened is that, once i started jogging, I noticed her peeking at my screen (through her reflection on the mirrors) ..which i ignored (& btw i hate people looking at others numbers).. later on, i noticed the VERY despirate look on her face while SHE was LOOKING at my NUMBERS!! i cudn't help but smile lol.. & wanted to say "its my body's capability to run this amount of distance in this particular speed in this period of time!, you don't have to do the same!!" .. people don't understand that THEY have limitations and they have to do what THEY CAN do NOT what others can do!

the best thing to do ~to me at least, is to wake up very early in the morning (by early i mean 5am), have a quick warm shower, have ur chai 7leeb (or coffee) while watching ur fav tv series & show and spend alot of time with your mom! oh i have to mention this is only applicable in case ur off work for couple of days =)

.. i walked into the residents room after finishing my rounds and discharging my patients to find my friend free & doing nothing,, she was starving and offered to go to StarBucks which i couldnt resist!! it was fast but we had fun *wink*..
this is my home made Basbosah! mom calls it 5bee9ah ..my nephews love it (they are my best source of feedback), & i started thinking of having my own restaurant %)
Again, i wrote a whole entry and my stupid Vista jammed! I HATE Vista!! God, i have to write it all over again.. *calming herself down* .. Pucci just woke up and he is staring at me with puffy eyes and an expression of "what are you looking at?"!!, OK i would stop looking at him and concentrate here..
I noticed, sometimes, that whenever i'm nervous or furious, i have episodes of compulsive speaking! do you know what i mean?!? I keep talking to myself or my friends and i even ask myself to stop talking and cant! whenever i'm around a friend i ask them to ask me to shut up! but that also doesnt work.. at other times, I feel that I have to talk to myself because if i didnt i will end up yelling at someone which i really hate doing.
One of my dearest friends came over to my place yesterday and we had a blast! she brought tons of gifts for the kids and suddenly the place turned something like a kindergarden! kids all around the place tearing off the gift wrappings, me and her putting in batteries & helping them to turn them on ,, we looked at each other and cracked up laughing XD.. it was crazy but beautiful.. i have to say that I (a capital I) prepared the main meal & dessert myself ..well ok with a little help of 4 maids only *rolling eyes* ..

I wrote a whole entry yesterday and was waiting to upload the pictures but my stubborn-brand-new laptop decided to shut down & i lost it all.. pas problem..
hmm i remember writing about me smashing into the glass.. yup i smashed my nose (as its the most prominent part of my face).. that was so painful ..I didnt see the glass door, it was so very clear i swear it was like nothing was there!! .. i got an immediate purple bruise on my nasal bridge (i think its 3yoon one of my friends as she mentioned that she likes my nose!!!) ..thank God it didnt get swollen or fractured.. & thanks God no one was there to witness the embaressing scene except Chocolate, my maid!!

I graduated with HONOURS!!! Yes, thats right, i finally managed to finish what seemed to be an endless master's degree! I can't believe I'm done, this is one of the things that I'm proud to have achieved in 2007. Another thing is my residency program, I'm almost half way through.. I have to sit for part I at the end of 2008, and I hope to pass that because none of the residents who sat the exams last year passed from the first time =s.
She is a psych patient. . she walked in the room calmly with an uncomed hair & a miserable look, she is 16 yrs only.. she looked into each of our faces suspeciously, I looked at her name in the chart and started taking the history by asking "how are you Fatima", she exploded yelling "EXCUSE ME, MY NAME AINT FATIME ANYMORE, I'M GHALA, OK, I CHANGED MY NAME TO GHALA".. I was stunned for seconds! then I resumed "ok Ghala, how are you today".. she answer in a very hyper mood "I'm fine thank you, you know my wedding is today".. the consultant continued "& you did not invite us?!", "you are all invited" she said .. "really, how come and your inpatient?", she answered "I know, but, give me a permission to go to the saloon this afternoon!".. "& where is your wedding?" he asked, "In Shiraton Hotel" she answered immediately.. she can't, simply because she is not engaged and she made up everything! she is diagnosed with bipolar disorder.. patients with this disorder are hyper most of the time, hypertalkative, they tend to be hyper in everything to the extent they don't need to sleep at all!
Go glitz! its the latest blings for laptops .. I couldnt resist blinging my new Dell laptop with a funky new skin & crystals.. & now i'm thinking of blinging my old Toshiba laptop!! its addictive i know!
